A. 2021 Place for Childrens Rights (Kinderrechte) (STARTING POINT)

Children? Rights? Square?

In 2019, the Kiel City Council decided to find a central square related to children and name it “Platz der Kinderrechte” (Square of Children’s Rights). The Asmus-Bremer-Platz was temporarily given this name until a new square was found. The reasoning was solely: because other cities had done the same. Now, the most inhospitable square in all of Kiel was chosen, where no one lived yet. Thus, it and its depiction on the city’s pages seem more like a memorial.
